Are you a bachelor’s or master’s student in Classical Voice at a Dutch or Belgian conservatoire? Would you like to gain experience performing with a professional vocal ensemble during your studies and prepare for a professional singing career? Then the Fellowship Cantores Martini is for you.

About Cantores Martini

Cantores Martini is the professional vocal ensemble of the Dom Church in Utrecht, under the direction of Remco de Graas. The ensemble performs concerts as part of the Zaterdagmiddagmuziek (Saturday Afternoon Music) concert series at the Dom Church and specialises in Renaissance, early Baroque and contemporary repertoire.

Every Saturday at 3:30 p.m., a concert takes place in the Dom Church as part of the Zaterdagmiddagmuziek concert series. Cantores Martini is a regular participant in this series, performing Renaissance and early Baroque repertoire with one singer per part. In addition, the ensemble regularly performs works by contemporary composers, including Ton de Leeuw, Maarten Kooij and Daan Manneke.

The Fellowship

The Fellowship Cantores Martini offers conservatoire students the opportunity to become an active member of a professional ensemble for one concert season. Fellows gain practical performance experience while developing their ensemble singing through artistic direction by Remco de Graas (Artistic Director) and vocal coaching, specifically focused on ensemble singing, by Bram Trouwborst (Vocal Coach).

Who are we looking for?

For the 2027 season, we are seeking:

• Soprano
• Tenor

Applicants should:

• be enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s programme in Classical Voice at a Dutch or Belgian conservatoire;
• have a solid vocal technique;
• have an interest in and ambition for singing in one-to-a-part vocal ensembles;
• have an affinity with Renaissance and early Baroque repertoire;
• be eager to develop within a professional performance environment during their studies.

Rehearsals and Concerts

Availability on all of the dates listed below is required for participation in both the audition and the fellowship.

Selection Procedure

First Round – Online Application

Apply no later than 25 August 2026 using the online application form and submit:

• a brief letter of motivation;
• a curriculum vitae;
• a video recording of a Renaissance or early Baroque work (composed before approximately 1700), submitted via an online link (e.g. YouTube or Vimeo).

Based on the submitted materials, the selection committee will make a preliminary selection.

Second Round – Live Audition

Wednesday 30 September 2026 (daytime, Utrecht)

Selected candidates will be invited to a live audition. During the audition, candidates will perform both prepared repertoire and music provided on the day. This allows the panel to assess not only vocal technique, but also stylistic awareness, ensemble skills, rehearsal ability and musical flexibility.
